Ready… Set… GROW!

Pumpkin transplants ready to go into the ground!

Pumpkin transplants ready to go into the ground!

One of my favorite smells…

There are a few smells that I truly enjoy…. fresh cut grass, bread baking in the oven, and earth! This made transplanting pumpkins out into the field all the more enjoyable.

After the pumpkins began to sprout their first “true” leaf… (for you non-gardeners, it’s the first leaf that actually looks like their normal leaves–not the rounded cotyledons that they first shoot up) …we know it’s time for them to be transplanted!

Now that all the transplants are in the field–it’s time to pray for rain! Our irrigation supplies don’t arrive until Wednesday… more about that process when we get it all set up!
